| If you are like me when you hold a key down you want the repeat rate to
be as quick as possible. I hate holding down the left arrow to scroll to the end of a line
and watching the cursor run like a slug across the screen. You can alter the keyboard
repeat rate in the Control Panel for the Keyboard but unfortunately the control panel will
only let you alter the speed to a maximum of setting of 30. This is way too slow for me
and probably most of you as well. If you have read this far you are probably by now
wondering if there is anything you can do about it, well there is read on! Backup your
registry and open up reg edit:
- Open up the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Keyboard Section of the registry.
- Double click on the KeyboardSpeed Value in the right hand panel.
- Change the value to something respectable like 80
- Click OK
- Close RegEdit
Now goto your favourite program, development tool or editor and hold down a key, much
faster! |
